2017 Charity Spotlight Award Recipient
As part of the conference, the IWLF Conference Planning Committee unanimously chooses a Kentucky not-for-profit organization as its Charity Spotlight Award Recipient. By highlighting the work of a worthy organization, IWLF draws attention to critical needs we face throughout the state. These organizations sometimes work quietly and without recognition in our communities to better the lives of women and children who may not have the capacity to help themselves. They help women build stronger networks, create opportunities and become the best version of themselves
This year IWLF is extremely proud to be supporting Maryhurst as its Charity Spotlight for the 3rd Annual Louisville Women’s Leadership Conference. Our two organizations have a mutual interest in improving the lives of women and families in our community and we are thrilled to be coming together in this effort.
What is Maryhurst?
Maryhurst is a place of new beginnings for children who have been traumatized by unimaginable abuse. Founded by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in 1843, Maryhurst is the oldest behavioral health services organization in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Today they operate under an independent board of directors and management team but still hold firmly to the Good Shepherd values and principals passed down to them. As a private, non-profit agency, Maryhurst is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and families in greatest need.
Maryhurst works hard to provide consistency, structure and love, addressing the unique needs of more than 300 children and their families each year.
Services of Maryhurst:
Maryhurst’s continuum of care provides a wide range of expert clinical, educational, and health and wellness services that appropriately and cost-effectively serve children during various stages of their treatment needs. Their programs include an intensive campus-based residential treatment program, two community based treatment programs, treatment foster care and outpatient and in-home counseling services. Many of their foster care placements turn into adoptions, creating “forever families” each year. Maryhurst has also established collaborative relationships with a number of community parters, one of which, MB Care, provides psychiatric residential treatment services to adolescent girls.
How can you help?
Maryhurst will be featured on the main stage at the IWLF Conference to share the organization’s mission and plans for future projects.
IWLF will give attendees the opportunity to donate the day of the conference and we strongly encourage you to do so. You will have a chance to bid in a silent auction with auction items provided by generous contributors. All net proceeds will be awarded to Maryhurst. Please register for the conference and come prepared to support this fantastic organization.
Your support will dramatically improve the lives of children, their friends, family and future generations in the Louisville Metropolitan Area!
