In her current role as Immersive Learning Initiatives manager, Margie’s mission is to take community members into the lives of citizens who are living in poverty, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the complex issues surrounding poverty. Margie will engage participants in a poverty simulation that is a powerful, experiential opportunity to learn about and engage in poverty reduction. The simulation is designed to increase social awareness of what living in poverty feels like and support understanding of the barriers faced by a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. The presentation explores involvement in activities and initiatives that can reduce poverty in the community, making it possible for all citizens to find a path to self-sufficiency.
